Stonewall and my Daily Mugshot!

Thanks to the fact that now have power, I've been trying to catch up with all the gang back home and events in dear old Blighty! First off, there is even more controversy regarding MP's and their pay or rather there expenses, apparently claiming for this and that, like packets of biscuits, TV's, porn films and moat cleaning! None of that has made news over here, which is pretty much focused on the space shuttle's quick fix repair job on the Hubble and Obama doing a talk at a catholic university called Notre Dam! Mind you, as my friend Anne said, "It's nice to know all the criminals are in one place - Parliament!"

SLACK ALICE RETURNS!

My friend Alice (not her real name, by the way, just to protect the guilty!) has told me of her love life, which is pretty colourful and confusing and would make a wonderful plot of a late night soap opera. She's got a couple of married men interested in her, which she's not all that hot about, but she has a real big crush on a man of god. Her crush on him is so strong that she'd give up her wild wild woman days for a chance of happy ever after with him, but he's only got eyes for the lord! Now as if that wasn't enough, she's got the threesome couple that want to get it on. I'm confused but it's something like this, the wife, whose one of Alice's friends, asked Alice if she'd do a threesome with her and her hubby, because this wife has gone off her hubby and they haven't really been a hit in the sack since 2001. Also the wife plays around on the side, with one of the married men, that really isn't interested in her, but after Alice. The husband has no idea of that, nor the three way, but has sought Alice out in order to suggest a one on one illicit evening of carnal pleasure. There is more, but I got so confused, it's like a roundabout, the faster it goes the harder it is to get off!

HAPPY 20TH

Other news from back home, 20 years ago on 20th May Stonewall was founded on Ian McKellen's terrace in Limehouse, London. Since then they have been at the forefront of the fight for equality for lesbians and gay men, they have, without exaggeration changed the face of the UK for us all.

On 3rd May they had the 6th Annual Brighton Equality 10k Walk, I'd have been there if I hadn't been on this side of the Atlantic, but I am delighted to hear that record numbers of people took part. Over 400 walkers joined hosts Brian Paddick and Mr Gay UK Dino Gamecho to raise money for the Education for All campaign to eradicate homophobic bullying in schools and raised over £50,000!!! Well done all!

I am proud to be a Stonewall supporter, I think they hold a very special place in our society, but rather than me spout off about a charity that is close to my heart, I'll let others do the job for me.

"Happy Birthday Stonewall, long may you continue your championing of the LGB community both inthe UK and further afield" Sue Perkins

"Happy Birthday Stonewall! You've positively changed the lives of so many LGBT people over the past 20 years" Amy Lame

"Stonewall gave us a voice where before there was only silence" Val McDermid

"Huge strides have been made in making Britain a more equal society in recent years, and organisations such as Stonewall have played a key role in that work" David Cameron, MP.

"You can't legislate love. That's why I'm pleased to congratulate Stonewall on 20 years of transforming our country for the better. Be very proud : you've changed laws, you've changed lives, you've changed the world" Gordan Brown - The Prime Minister.

So Stonewall, I say happy birthday you've done so well, but mostly to Ben Summerskil, Sir Ian McKellen, Michaela, Simon and the staff past and present of Stonewall, I say THANK YOU.

I saw this on a friends blog and thought it such a cool idea, so I pinched it, not the photos the idea, silly. So here it is, my Daily Mugshot! A daily photo of me, there's not many so far, but you can already see the minor changes that happen on a daily basis, you can see the hair grow, both on the top of my head and on the chin. You can also see that I'm no good at getting in to exactly the same position as the day before and the day before that. If your a geek or just very very ultra observant, you'll see there is a gap of about 4 days, that was when the tornado took out the power and was unable to get online, other than that, it's exactly what it says on the tin - A Daily Mugshot!

Come back soon for another update from the wilds of Southern Illinois!

I thought an MP had won when I heard a man with a fiddle had won the Eurovision sing contest!
