So far in the wilderness that is Southern Illinois, we've had eight consecutive days with temperatures in the mid 90's and high humidity factors making it feel close on or just above 100f Which, no matter where you're from is a tad on the warm side of things. It's also taught me a lot, one I like the heat, two Matt does not! I'm British I have no need, nor knowledge of air conditioning, while Matt has the a/c set on the highest or is that the lowest, possible settings, so therefore before the clock has ticked passed ten of your earth minutes there's ice forming on every imaginable surface, including me! I like boiled eggs and Matt doesn't, but what that's got to do with the weather, I know not, I just remembered that and thought I'd mention it. Otherwise, I'd forget and it would probably be lost forever, my mind, or rather my memory is not what it should be, I keep forgetting things, I'm not sure if it's my age, if it's living in a foreign land or if it's just the heat, but forget things I do. For example as I've been writing this I've been fixing lunch for Matt and I, then watching Ellen on TV, completely forgot that an hour ago I left washing in the dryer downstairs! The other day I couldn't find my sunglasses, in their case they were not, nor was the side, the table, the TV stand, the night stand, the sink in the bathroom their temporary home. Nope, you'll never guess where I found them three hours later...... beside the orange juice in the fridge! Am I crazy? Is this normal or am I in the words of Sondheim, am I loosing my mind?
We had a nice meal at Betty & Steve, Matt's parents home on Tuesday, she'd made this delightful lasagna with a bucket load of mushrooms in in, which was lovely and filling, but tasted so nice that I had to have seconds! We watched two DVD's one Confessions Of A Shopaholic, which is a fun movie, staring former Home & Away soap star Isla Fisher. The second film starred Clive Owen as an ex Scotland Yard cop, now special agent with eurowide investigation force - Interpol! Rather gripping and a tad bloody, there was a wonderfully scenic shooting scene in the Guggenheim Museum. I recommend it, nice bit of escapism with plenty if bangs and whizzes!
I was going to write some more, but I seem to have forgotten what it was going to be about, well just like a said before, I seem to be forgetting a lot these days! Oh well, it's 5.15, 94f and clear blue skies, so, I think the order of the afternoon is to read a book on the balcony with a cool beer!
Forcast ! Errm rather warm!
Whilst driving around on Monday, we say this rather smiley water tank thingy. Every town in these here parts has one of these water tanks, high up in the air, however not all are as bright of a smiley as this example!
Views around the apartments, nice and summery!
Sad news emerged last night of the passing of Farrah Fawcett, she'd been ill for a long long time, her battle with cancer having highs and lows, the only constant was the love her her partner Ryan O'Neal. I will always remember her for her appearance as Jill Munroe in Charley's Angels. God, I even had one of her posters on my wall, the one with her feathery hair and wide smile. She was an icon of 70's style, grace and TV. She was a star, tears fell from many eyes during the recent TV show documenting her consuming battle with cancer that had struck her down. Her memory will live on as we say farewell Farrah.
Whilst I write this, the TV news has confirmed that Michael Jackson has died. An ambulance was called to his LA home this afternoon, when the paramedics said he was in cardiac arrest and was taken to the hospital, it's not clear what exactly happened, but latest news has confirmed that Michael Jackson has died. Farewell the king of pop! Like him or loath him, one thing is clear, he was a great entertainer, selling millions and millions of records, had as many headlines about his appearance as his music and has left an army of fans devastated at his passing. He was due to start a mammoth series of 51 shows at the O2 in London next month, which was a sell out, they sold other within days, £70 tickets changing hands for £200 and more. Farewell Michael. Michael's YouTube Channel.
More soon , so till the next time, be good, take care of yourself!

The heat, then the passing of Farrah and Michael - it is all too much, dear, all too much... Jx
I must admit, though, that, concerning Michael, the mean part of me doesn't feel this slight setback will actually affect his upcoming tour - after all, wasn't most of him plastic anyway???
Sorry, some idjit had to say it and it probably had to be me ...!
Oh dear oh dear Anne, that was a bad joke, and here's another one -
Farrah Fawcett went up to heaven, God asked what she would most like in the world. Farrah thought for a moment, then said, "I'd like all the little children to be safe"
So god snapped his fingers and killed Michael Jackson! -
Opps, sorry everyone!

Jill was my favourite Angel ... when she left I switched aligence to Kelly and even Sabrina for a while but none of them were the same as Jill Munroe.
I was a big MJ fan around the time of Bad (1987) I saw him live 3 times between 1988-93 but even then I felt like I'd missed his peak years which were 1979-83 ... still sadder than I thought at the news of his death.
I think in years to come we'll forget about the rumours and slights and just remember the music.
