The death of Michael Jackson has been played out on every single news channel over this side of the Atlantic, I was flipping the channels last night and was hard pressed to find one that didn't have a Michael Jackson special on it, filling up it's airtime, there were reviews of his life, of his music, of his taste in clothes, in his dance moves, his girlfriends, everything, rebroadcast, repackaged again. It seems MJ is more famous in death than he was when he was alive. His albums are topping the charts on both Amazon and iTunes at the moment, the web is awash with MJ tributes, stories and interviews.
Martin Bashir met MJ once and did that strange documentary following him around Neverland, Las Vegas and all over, well that's been broadcast over and over again here, I'm getting rather a tad tired by it all. Yes he was a great musician who brought a lot of happiness to people all over the world. Yes, we've all tried at least once to copy his dance moves, come on, admit it, how many times did you try to moonwalk before you either gave up or twisted your ankle?
Only years will tell if he will be remembered for the music, as the true fans wish, but, every incident of strange behaviour, weird statements, dancing on cars, mask wearing, court cases and payoffs is rebroadcast over and over again. The controversy surrounding his death, his family wanting a second autopsy, his debts, his addictions, his children ensure the enigma that was Michael Jackson, is not going to go quietly!
The music will live on.
Tributes
So long MJ.
Something a little different!
2 People had their say.:
Oh honestly - it's not Princess Diana for f**k's sake. Mind you, the media have to make meal out of this one just to keep other inconsequential people like Lady GaGa, Paris Hilton, Cheryl Cole and the Beckhams out of the headlines, I suppose!
I'm just waiting for the dust to settle, and for the true stories to come out now he's dead - the boys, the sex tapes, the whole sorry saga of exactly what he did with his money and who he was paying off... Jx

His girlfriends? I'm guessing that was quite a short programme?
I did have a period of being very into Jacko from 1987 - 1989 ... but it was hard to distance the man and the rumours from the music - maybe in years to come we'll be able to just listen to the music without all the three ring circus that currently goes with it.
