Matt and I are off to PrideFest in St Louis, the biggest one in the Midwest, according the their website the PrideFest weekend attracts some 80,000 people, although last year when I was there on the Saturday, I'd have been hard pushed to count 5000! Still it was a good day, much like the Pride festivals I used to enjoy back in London and Brighton, stalls, community areas and a main stage were various acts and artists would preform.
Somethings don't change tho, St Louis has a law that makes it illegal to leaflet public parks, however federal judge has issued a permanent order allowing a religious ministry to leaflet at a gay pride event in Tower Park. The religious group is not in favour of gay pride and thinks homosexuality is a mortal sin, yet they are allowed to sew their message of hatred and intolerance with Federal blessing. It kind of makes it clear that in some ways we have not come all that far from the Stonewall riots that took place in the early hours of this day back in 1969. It's time to remember, it's time to say thank you.
Read more about the Stonewall Riots here.
Full report of St Louis PrideFest and photos will be posted here on the blog in the next couple of days, however until then, take care of each other.

Update - we would have gone to PrideFesrt, only Matt decided to work late and came home at 11.30, then decided to stay up till gone 2am, so therefore he didn't want to get up until 10.30, so PrideFest was not an option any more. So We are off elsewhere......
