Conor Oberst's Winter Solo Tour.

That impressive vocalist Conor Oberst, he of Bright Eyes fame, although he has been in or founded at least four other bands, is doing a winter solo tour over here in Europe.

I'm pretty excited by the prospect and hoping to raise some funds to be able to get to attend one of his dates.    I was first turned on to Bright Eyes and Conor by my ex Matt, who put a couple of their songs on a ipod for me when we were first dating,  in fact that's one of the few things I can thank him for,  Bright eyes have been a regular feature of my play lists since then!

I can't say exactly what it is about Conor / Bright Eyes that I like so much,  perhaps the apparent  simplicity of  each number, or the heartfelt lyrics or Conor's ear tingling vocal style,  probably its all this plus a whole heap of melancholic and reflective imagery that each song evokes. Maybe I'm just a sucker for American indie folk rock from singer / song writers with a penchant for sad story songs!

I adore this video of one of the Bright Eyes classics,  First Day Of My Life,  directed my John Cameron Mitchell, yes he of Hedwig, Shortbus and Rabbit Hole fame.  It won much admiration and praise for its inclusive nature and simple beauty.
